First Aid Kit

I know I've posted about First Aid Kit before.

We saw them preform at the Bell House last night and it was phenomenal! They are incredibly talented. I highly recommend listening to some of their new tunes on myspace—go ahead and skip down to 'Ghost Town' at the end, so good!

*I can't figure out why the video is only embedding the left-half!? Any suggestions? sorry about that.

Iron & Wine

J got me Iron & Wine tickets for my birthday. The show was last night & it was so beautiful in a small theatre under the Williamsburg Bridge in Manhattan. He played this song last, (Trapeze Swinger) I had never heard it before but it made me weep.

They also gave us these beautiful letterpressed "commemorative tickets" so pretty!

Thanks J for an amazing night! xo!

Erasmus Hall Video Club

J teaches at Erasmus Hall (both Neil Diamond & Barbara Streisand went there) some of his students are in a video club and made some really great films that competed and did really well in the Tribeca Film Festival. J was interviewed by one of his students in the film above titled, Views on Hate.

Visit the Erasmus Hall Video blog to see more talented student work including a film on Banksy's Pet Shop in the Village.

a New York Moment

After the Jason Anderson show we were going to take a taxi home. But we didn't have any cash so we hopped back on the L train. That's when we saw this, and had an incredible I live in New York City! moment.

*so the video is pretty shoddy but bare with me! & half way through, I noticed that there was someone in the other car actually filming them so I tried to move a bit and not be so obvious! oops!

Jason Anderson // Pete's Candy Store

I have been a fan Jason Anderson's music for years. He played a show on Monday night in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at Pete's Candy Store. We went, even on a Monday night (J is a teacher so we don't usually venture too far from home during the week) & we are so glad we did!

The fun, pure enjoyment & inspiration that his shows bring is both contagious & heartfelt. I'm still riding the wave of positive energy that Jason provided!

*I wanted to (& tried, fruitlessly) to load a video that I made of the show. I haven't quite figured out iMovie yet to edit the longer stuff. But you can check out some equally as uplifting videos of Jason's shows here on YouTube.

Lisa Hannigan

After the previous post I stumbled upon Lisa Hannigan's new video. *sigh

My heart breaks for a few reasons right now:

1. I wish I was in Austin for SXSW & Flatstock. This has been painful for me all week.
2. Lisa Hannigan is playing 2 show at SXSW, today. right now even...
*I saw her play once, in Dallas at the now extinct Gyspy Tea Room with Damien Rice. She sat on the floor crosslegged and swayed while she sang. It was really beautiful! This was probably 6 years ago and one of my favorite shows to date!
3. The pop up books in the video remind me of 2 MORE of my favorite things... Robert Sabuda's paper arts and Craig Thompson's graphic novels.

First Aid Kit

I never get tired of watching this & it seems perfect for a snowy first day of spring! (yes, it's snowing!)

I love the Fleet Foxes but dare I say that these dolls sing Tiger Mountain Peasant Song maybe better than the Fleet Foxes... dare I say...

day trip!

I needed to get out of the city... pretty badly. Some friends needed us to "car-sit" last minute and told us we should take it up to New Paltz we were sold!

A few miles hiking around a very frozen lake did us a lot of good... 4 hours sitting in traffic and trying to find a parking spot when we got back, not so good... we're hoping the latter didn't reverse the affects of the former!

*thanks for driving boys! and HUGE thanks to Taylor & Tiffany for trusting us with your chariot!
